What I meant, léa, was that I feel like the English version (of the fifth book, for example) is darker than the French version... But that might be just an impression .

I couldn't wait for the French version either, and when I bought it (some two days after its income) I had finished it after two days . But, as I did the same thing for the one before, I had no problem with it and if anyone needs some translation for a blurry or misunderstood paragraph, I'd be glad to help!

I didn't saw it on the first times, because I didn't ask me the question, but it's true, the english version is a little darker . Maybe it's because we don't understand some jokes with words (jeux de mots) ???

Anyways, my favorite Harry Potter's are now, in order:
6th: the best ever!
4th: still very good, I bought it in Spanish
3rd: Sirius we all love you!
5th: too depressing for me... too dark. JKR has to equilibrate the sad and the cheery parts, which she didn't bothered to do in this volume.
2nd: used to be my favorite... not anymore, I suppose I've grown up
1st: sounds so childish...

The sixth book is wonderful: in every Harry Potter books, when you have to stop reading for a while, you stay with the mood of the principal character until you take the book back and continue. That's the power of JKR. When I read the fifth book, for example, I was always depressed. But the sixth book is completely different; whenever I interrumpted my reading, I was cheerful. The whole book was constituted of good news, good events... Well, mostly.
The end is the biggest exception...

In fact, when I read the end, it took me two days before I managed to smile again. I was in such a state of shock!!! I was about to abandon the whole series; I said I won't read the seventh, it seems too hard... Even my father was deeply perturbated when he finished the book, and my father is really someone!

Sorry to be so impertinent for those who did not read the book yet... I wish I haven't lowered your mood too much!...
